Atheism

Atheism is the belief that there is no God. This can be understood in different senses according to the religious context. For example, some forms of Buddhism are atheistic in the sense of rejecting the idea of a personal God. Christians too can use the term to advocate the rejection of all inadequate images and concepts of “God”. However, in Western culture an atheist is usually understood as someone who rejects all religion. If atheists belong to an organisation or group, it would usually be labelled “secularist” or “humanist”.
